Mid July 2012

July 8, 2012
This one goes out for Bo & Menx.  “The Weight” by the Band Classic.  I can hear ya’ll say, “Wait a minute, Chester” like it was yesterday.

Roy’s birthday’s today.  Hope you have a happy one.  Watch out for those stairs.  I hate Purdue!

I’m developing a test.  My cellie can’t hear very well.  Every time I say something he says, “What?” and I then repeat it.  But, I have started repeating my words exactly the way I said them the first time rather than slower or louder.  He understands it fine the second time even though it’s no different.  Does this mean he can hear me fine the first time?  Or, does it mean that unless he is “ready” to receive auditory input, his brain is unable to comprehend what ‘noise’ just occurred?  I think it’s time for some fart tests.

Bear with me while I describe what I thought about last night.  I think the best way to express it would be (x+1)2=x2+ (2x+1).  Now, what this means is, if you know the square of one number, you can easily calculate the square of the next number.  So, let’s assume that everyone knows that 102=100.  But do you know what 112 equals?  Anyone can work out 11x11 on paper.  But in your head, you can say, “I know that 102=100, and if I take 100 and add to it 10+10+1, I have the answer which is 121.  If you know that 112=121 then you can know that 122=121+11+11+1 which equals 144.  So……
132=144+12+12+1 is 169.           142= 169+13+13+1 is 196.
152=196+14+14+1 or 225                       another way to say this is if you know that 152=is 225 and you need to know what 162 is, add 225+15+16 to get the answer 256.
162+16+17=172 and so on.  12372+1237+1238=12382.  I have A LOT of free time.
I would really like a fresh peach & cold watermelon please.

As a kid, one of the treats we sometimes enjoyed while visiting cousins was a meal they referred to as “around the world.”  Each person could choose a dish and order in for everyone to share.  Someone might want pizza, someone Chinese, maybe Mexican, and of course American.  A year or so ago some of my friends & I did something kinda similar.  A family feast of fish from LJS, an 8 pc from Popeye’s, a dozen tacos from Taco Bell, and a sack from Krystal’s.  I wouldn’t have wanted to know the caloric intake for that day, but I do think we all napped with smile on our faces.

Hopefully, we will be off of lockdown soon.  I have once again grown tired of bologna sandwiches. But this time around it did include chips, so not all bad.

Hope the Tennessee Senior Olympics weren’t rained out today.  And I hope that my great-grandfather, Grandaddy, who will be 99 next month, was able to steal the show & set some more records.
