Late May

May 24, 2012
There’s a show on the SyFy channel called “Total Blackout” hosted by Steve Erkel.  It may be my new favorite show.  It’s like “Fear Factor” but in complete darkness.  I’ve never seen it before yesterday, but now I’m hooked.

Psalms may be my favorite book.  It’s even better than Killer Angels.

The best version of this song was on Legends & Lyrics.   But if you don’t catch it on PBS, you won’t find this version.  Mindy Smith’s “Raggedy Anne” is a soft, simple ballad about a girl who is broken down.  But I really could identify with it.

Remembering back a few Memorial Days ago.  At a friend’s house celebrating when Roy & I found out they had recently gotten a hot tub.  It was ssooo exciting. We had to hook it up immediately so we could enjoy it immediately.  It was just big enough for the two of us to fit into it comfortably.  But that quickly became a little uncomfortable once we realized how funny everyone found it for two grown men to be enjoying a hot tub so much.  Needless to say the “new” wore off pretty quickly.

I finally got it verified that I am, in fact, a high school graduate.  I got to class this morning & was told that I didn’t have to stay.  That really put a smile on my face.  Now if only I can get some job assignment that is halfway decent and maybe take some college courses.   One step at a time.

Baked Beans Recipe
The following is the best baked bean recipe you will see.  It’s not the cheapest, but for special occasions it will suffice.  The brisket is found at Kroger, Wal-mart, or Sam’s and is precooked and packaged.
1 can Bush’s Bold & Spicy Beans
1 can Bush’s Home-style Beans
1 can Bush’s Maple Beans
1 can Bush’s Honey Beans
1 can Bush’s Onion Beans
1 small package of brisket cubed
1 small diced onion
1 cup dark brown sugar
½ cup mustard
1 cup BBQ sauce
½ small jalapeno (remove seeds ) diced
Combine all ingredients in a large crock pot & cook on low setting for about two hours. Stir occasionally.  The longer they cook the better they are.

Rascal Flats just sang “Changed” on Ellen.   New song I assume.  I’ve never heard it.  Best they have ever sounded live in my opinion.  Plus, a really, really good song.  And yes, I watch Ellen, stop judging me!

The downside to morning shows………. prison food lunches.

Shows I have never watched a single episode of:  The Simpsons, Lost, Mike & Molly, House, 30 Rock.  I’m sure there are more, but these seemed to be big ones.  P.S.  I’m okay with never watching these shows.

Shows I never watched until they became syndicated & I don’t know how I ever made it without them: Everybody Loves Raymond, New Adventures of Old Christine, Big Bang Theory.

As if I needed to sit here and cry! I couldn’t decide between the MLB game on Fox, the Stanley Cup on NBC, either of the College World Series on ESPN & ESPN2, or the NBA or TNT.  So I decided to watch Secret Millionaire on ABC.  Yes, I cried.  It was really dumb.  I also don’t think the ASPCA commercial was a fair addition to the program schedule.  Stupid!

A belated Thank You to whoever it was that got me the Chester County Independent subscription.  It’s been a while since I have been able to read one.  It’s comforting to be able to keep up.  And also comforting to know you care.  I’m already looking forward to this week’s edition.

Hope everyone made it through the storms without any damage.  It appeared to get pretty rough here, but this place is pretty stout.

I clap every single time when Friends come on, during the theme song.  I always have, always will.

Late May

Forced school today.  I still know exponential numbers, compound & complete sentences.  I still know a dependant clause from a simple predicate. And I, unlike the folks in charge here, still know my ass from a hole in the ground.  And I still will not, I repeat will not, take the GED test.
I did get several letters written while in class today.  I appreciate all of the correspondence I’ve gotten from you all.  I try to keep information about me on here, so my reply to your mail may not be extremely detailed.  I do like to get back to you though; it just may not be immediate.  They do keep my mind active & always bring a smile.  Thank you for the support and prayers.

I guess I will stop complaining about having to go to school.  Even though I won’t take the actual test, this class does make the time go by.  The test is next week, so do I take it, so I can pass & get out, or do I refuse it?  That is the question.

It’s gotta be “Staying Alive” by the Bee Gees.  RIP Mr. Gibb.
I had a good weekend.  I didn’t get anything written on here, but I had some pretty good food & a few naps.  Plus I got to watch some golf & NBA playoffs.  Almost felt like a normal few days.
I have gotten a lot of mail the past few weeks.  I know I still owe a few replies.  I’m trying to get to them all.  Some are harder to write than others.  And I know out in the real world that it’s not easy to sit down & write a letter.  So I thank you for thinking of me.  I think of you all often.
The Old Testament.  I’m currently following a plan to read the Bible in a year.  I’ve never done it before.  The plan I have kinda skips around, Genesis, Romans, Exodus, Luke, etc.  One thing that boggles my mind is how much killing goes on by Israel. They wiped out what seems like entire family lines, entire races, entire countries.  And all of it was on the direction of God.  It just seems ………shocking.  They were the chosen people, yet they constantly angered God & ignored His commands. They received chance after chance.  I think a lot of us can agree that we too have been given many, many chances.  I know I have.  I’ve never been a big religious person.  I have my beliefs.  I have my struggles. But I know I won’t be given more than I can handle.  And I know I am loved.
American Ninja Warrior comes on NBC tonight.  That is awesome.  I’m gonna watch the crap outta that.

It was really good to see Daddy last night.  His beard is getting pretty white. I think mine’s longer though!
I have a question……. Why in the hell is China making parts for US military software in the first place?  Of course they’re going to cut corners & lie & cheat & steal.  That’s what China does with everything.  No wonder this country is in the shape it’s in.
I already mentioned Robin Gibbs, but just for humor’s sake, you should watch the SNL videos with Jimmy Fallon & Justin Timberlake playing Barry & Robin on “Talking it Up”.  Hilarious!
