The movie
“Good Ole Boys” was based on a book of the same title written by Elmer
Kelton. I discovered this by glancing at
a large collection of Reader’s Digest condensed books and saw it on the spine
of Vol. 4 of 1978. Now if that’s not
random, I don’t know what is.
Aside from
not being able to shower when you want or go to the bathroom in privacy, an
institutional lock-down is pretty much what I bet a lot of people dream
about. You have nowhere you are supposed
to be. You don’t have to talk to
anyone. You can stay in bed around the
clock if you want to. Unlimited time for
TV, reading, writing, etc. Not terrible.
I would like
to know why upper management at companies like Grey Poupon & Country Crock
decided to stop advertising. The products are still out there. Did their sales
figures get too high? Were they
continually running out of stock? I just
remember all those commercials. Now
days, pick an hour-long show & count how many times the same crappy
commercials are repeated. Michael
Buffer’s “bundlllllllle” on the latest “Flo” Progressive commercial is possibly
the most annoying thing I’ve heard since Lloyd’s annoying sound on Dumb and
Dumber. I have to mute it every time it
comes on, which is too often.
For the
record, I don’t classify “Lonesome Dove” as a movie. It was a made for TV mini-series. Although, if it is a movie it would be #2 on
my list. I cry every time Gus dies. And as a side note, I saw Steel Magnolias
recently, and apparently I still tear up every time Shelby dies. Spoiler alert. It came out in the late 80’s. If you haven’t seen it by now, it should be
spoiled. Shelby dies. Gus dies.
Still totaling they should both be seen my all.
To sum up
the NCAA men’s basketball tournament in one word: suckish. Duke did okay. Florida Gulf Coast was fun to watch. Wichita State over-achieved. All in all, disappointing for a Blue Devil.
